The Japanese government has launched an anti-dumping probe into South Korean dipotassium carbonate.

The Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry said Monday it began the investigation at the request of industry which accused Korean exporters of selling the chemical product at unfairly low prices and harming Japanese businesses.

Dipotassium carbonate is mainly used in the production of glass, including liquid crystal panels.

The investigation is to be concluded within one year.

Following the probe, the Japanese government will determine whether the imports of dipotassium carbonate from Korea have caused damage to the domestic industry and decide whether or not to impose an anti-dumping duty on the product.
