The daily number of new coronavirus cases in South Korea again topped 100 on Thursday due to cluster infections across the country.

The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency said it confirmed 125 new cases from the previous day, raising the cumulative total to 23,341.

Of the latest infections, 110 were local transmissions, surpassing 100 for the first time in five days.

A majority of the cases were linked to sporadic clusters in Seoul, including one that emerged from a supermarket in the Yeongdeungpo District and another from the Korea Investment & Securities office in Yeouido.

The KDCA also recorded 15 additional cases brought in from overseas.

There were five more virus-related fatalities, raising the national death toll to 393.
