Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon has proposed holding disease control and prevention talks with North Korea amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

In a meeting with foreign ambassadors Thursday, Park said Seoul has so far shared its expertise with cities around the world.

Envoys from 20 countries, including Finland, Canada and Greece, took part in the discussions.

Park said he is prepared to visit the North anytime, noting Seoul has recently become the first municipality in South Korea to attain a United Nations sanction exemption on sending anti-virus medical supplies across the border.

He also urged Pyongyang to positively respond to Seoul city's initiative to co-host the 2032 Summer Olympics.
