Seoul city is going to operate taxis that have rear bike racks on a trial basis beginning Wednesday.

The move comes as the city continues to promote and enhance its bike-friendly policies.

Riders are only allowed to take their bikes on subways during the weekend and often face difficulties when their bikes break down.

The metropolitan government has partnered with ride-hailing platform Macaron Taxi to provide the new service.

Rear racks will first be installed on 10 electric taxis and expand to more cabs according to demand.

Each vehicle will be able to hold up to three bikes at a cost of 3,000 won per bike.

In order to access the service, users must download the Macaron Taxi app on their mobile phone.
