Major roadways in the capital have been closed due to flooding, causing heavy delays during the Monday commute.

According to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, the Dongbu Highway was shut down in both directions during the early morning hours as water levels of the Jungnang Stream rose.

Most sections of the highway remain blocked off with the exception of a northbound stretch from the Nokcheon Bridge to the Surak Underpass.

Rain has also submerged parts of the Olympic Highway, including on and off ramps in Yeouido.

Meanwhile, the Jamsu Bridge remains blocked off to both vehicles and pedestrians as well as the all Han River parks.

Authorities are warning the public to stay clear of streams in Seoul, including Cheonggyecheon, due to the dangers posed by rising water levels.
