The Seoul Metropolitan Government issued an order Wednesday that calls on owners and workers at private academies, restaurants, cafes, singing rooms and PC rooms get tested for COVID-19.
The move is likely aimed at blocking the further spread of the disease.
Mayor Oh Se-hoon also told a briefing this afternoon that additional screening centers will be set up in each of the capital city's 25 districts, including at Seoul Plaza, Itaewon and Gangnam Station where many young adults frequent.
He noted that a significant number of the latest infections were reported among young people.
Oh added that public transportation will run on a reduced schedule late at night, and said more hospital beds will be made available.
