Busan police have decided to sternly punish U.S. Forces Korea soldiers and other foreign nationals accused of creating disturbances last weekend at Haeundae Beach.

They are known to have set off fireworks, shooting some of them towards citizens, during an apparent Fourth of July party.

Some of the foreigners were reportedly not wearing face masks at the time of the incident.

The Busan Metropolitan Police Agency said Thursday it is reviewing related laws to determine how to handle the case.

Authorities have obtained CCTV footage and witness testimonies and said they will work with USFK when deciding how to punish the service members.

On Tuesday, the U.S. military here expressed regrets over its soldiers' unruly behavior and vowed to fully cooperate with local authorities and take appropriate disciplinary action against those involved.
