Around 100 Korean nationals who were working at construction sites in Iraq amid the coronavirus pandemic are due to return home.

The South Korean embassy in Iraq said the government has arranged a flight to bring the workers home Monday.

Last month, two Korean workers dispatched to a construction site in the Middle Eastern country died of COVID-19.

An embassy official said another Korean worker tested positive on Saturday and was in stable condition.

Iraq has recorded over 77,500 coronavirus cases and more than 3,100 related deaths, according to a running tally by Johns Hopkins University.
