4.9 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Off Coast Of Jeju

A 4.9 magnitude earthquake hit off the coast of Jeju Island Tuesday afternoon, the strongest this year.
The Korea Meteorological Administration said the quake was detected at 5:19 p.m. in waters 41 kilometers west-southwest of Seogwipo City at a depth of 17 kilometers.
Some island residents said they felt the temblor.
People in nearby Gwangju and parts of South Jeolla Province also felt some shaking.
The National Fire Agency said it received dozens of related reports from across the country.
Authorities said they were checking to see if there was any damage or injuries as a result of the earthquake.
