Imports of an American baby food product have been blocked by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety after it was found to be contaminated with a heavy metal.

According to the ministry, Plum Organics Just Sweet Potato, produced by Plum, PBC (owned by Campbell Soup Company), contained excessive amounts of lead beyond the set threshold.

The findings came after an inspection of 165 different U.S. baby food products sold both locally and through overseas direct purchase.

More information on approved foreign food imports and inspection results can be found on the ministry's Imported Food Information Maru website (impfood.mfds.go.kr).
