More than 30 million people in South Korea have received COVID-19 vaccine booster shots, data from the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency showed Friday.
This accounts for 58.6 percent of the country's population of over 51 million.
Nearly 68 percent of people aged 18 and up have received a third dose of vaccines, with the rate higher at over 87 percent for those 60 and older.
Most adults, over 11.6 million, were administered the shot developed by American pharmaceutical company Pfizer, followed by Moderna, Novavax and Johnson & Johnson.
More than 44.2 million people, or 86.3 percent of the population, have so far been fully vaccinated, according to the KDCA.
