China has said Australia's decision to join a diplomatic boycott against the upcoming Winter Olympics amounts to "political posturing."

Beijing's embassy in Canberra said Wednesday the move runs counter to claims to want better relations and urged Australia to take practical steps towards improving bilateral ties.
