Subway trains were bypassing Mapo Station on Seoul Subway Line 5 Tuesday afternoon, due to a fire nearby.

According to fire officials, a blaze broke out on the first basement level of a residential building that connects to the station.

As a result, smoke filled the station, prompting trains in both directions to pass without stopping.

There were no immediate reports of injury.
