The Seoul Metropolitan Government says it will come up with enhanced antivirus measures to control the local spread of COVID-19.

Quarantine control officer Park Yoo-mi told reporters Thursday that city officials are meeting with experts to discuss the coronavirus situation and how to curb outbreaks.

This comes the daily number of new infections in Seoul alone has been hovering around 200 in recent days.

Park strongly urged companies in the capital to make sure their personnel wear masks at the office, ventilate their spaces frequently, keep a logbook of visitors and expand telecommuting.

The official also called on residents to refrain from holding year-end gatherings, avoid crowded spaces and to immediately get tested if they suspect they have COVID-19.
