The Seoul Metropolitan Government is increasing subway and bus services in the capital during Thursday's evening commute as roads remain slippery due to ice and snow.

According to the city, more than 500 subway trains will be running 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

Over 1,300 additional buses will also operate during the same period at minimum intervals.

The move is in response to calls by officials urging people to use public transportation as drivers could face delays.

Similar measures will be in place for the Friday morning commute.
