Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Ryu Hyun-jin has picked up his first win of the season as his team beat the Atlanta Braves 2-1 on Wednesday.

Ryu shut down the Braves over five innings as he struck out eight, walked three and only allowed one hit.

He threw 84 pitches, with his ERA dropping to 5.14 since the 2020 MLB season started on July 24.

Blue Jays manager Charlie Montoyo said he was satisfied with Ryu's performance, which helped the team end a three-game losing streak.

The team has posted a 4-5 record so far in the 60-game season.

Ryu signed a four-year 80 million dollar contract with the Blue Jays as a free agent in December, leaving the Los Angeles Dodgers after seven years.
